Over the years, people start to change their perception of beauty. Women start undergoing drastic changes in their body through cosmetic procedures for their satisfaction. As a woman, having fuller and rounder breasts is an asset and something to be proud about. For those who are not gifted with fuller and rounder breasts, they may feel insecure and may want to try methods that would enhance their breast contour. This is where breast augmentation comes in. The procedure makes use of surgically placed implants to enhance and restore breast volume that is lost due to ageing, pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight fluctuations and surgical removal of the breasts in cancer patients.

We offer our patients cooling off period for them to decide if they really want to do it. Although breast augmentation offers long-term results, we ensure that our patients have better understanding of the procedure as implants are not designed to last a lifetime. There is no age limit for breast augmentation. For saline implants, you must be at least 18 years old while 22 years old for silicone implants. Women with underdeveloped breasts, asymmetrical breasts and imperfect breast are good candidates provided that they are in good overall health with no history of bleeding or clotting disorders, cardiovascular disease, hypertension and other medical condition that may delay healing.
There are associated risks and complications in all types of surgery. However, this can be prevented in the hands of a professional and qualified surgeon. As one of the most performed cosmetic surgery worldwide, it is also considered as one of the safest. Having breast implants does not increase your risk for breast cancer or other related disease.
If you experience the following signs and symptoms, consult with your doctor as your breast health can be compromised:
The type of implant that will suit you will greatly depend on the amount of your breast tissue, your desired outcome and the preference of your surgeon. During your initial consultation, your surgeon will assess your breasts using imaging techniques to determine the appropriate implants. He or she will also provide you with before and after photos of the procedure for you to visualize what will happen to your breasts after undergoing breast augmentation. Your surgeon will guide you in navigating through the decision-making process until both of you agreed on the most suitable implant for you.
You will be brought to the operating room after all the paper works are done and you have signed a written consent for the procedure. A certified anesthesiologist will administer general anesthesia to induce sleep and minimize discomforts. Once the anesthesia has taken effect, your surgeon will create an incision for the implants to be inserted. The incision techniques and placement of the implants will be thoroughly discussed with you during the initial consultation. Your surgeon will place the implant and will verify its placement. Minor adjustments will be done until the implants are in their proper location. The surgical wound will be closed using absorbable sutures and sterile dressings will be applied to protect the wound. A surgical drain may be placed to remove body fluids that may accumulate in the wound. After the operation, you will be brought to the recovery room for observation. If any complications are seen, further management will be necessary. But if none are seen, you will be discharged with instructions regarding wound care, changing of wound dressings, breast massage, monitoring of the implants and when to return for follow-up.
It is of utmost importance to properly monitor your breasts for any abnormal signs and symptoms that may warrant further medical management. Always follow your surgeon’s advice regarding breast care. It is recommended that you avoid heavy lifting and wear support bra or specialized garments as your breasts heal.
